Communication, what is it? Transferring a message from a sender to a receiver is defined as communication. To ensure good communication, messages need to be conveyed accurately by the sender and understood by the receiver. Thinking about the different ways we communicate with others. We don’t just use our words (verbal- speaking and writing); we also communicate nonverbally using our bodies as well as graphically using images (Dwyer 2012). The ability to communicate is reflected by the quality and range of each individual’s communications skills (Dwyer 2012 p.4). However, if there are interferences, either from external influences or internal distractions, the meanings of the messages can be lost or distorted. This can therefore cause inaccurate responses, decoding, that we hope to avoid. For me in my work place, communication is very important. As a leader working within a team, communication between team members is important to ensure that the intended outcomes are achieved. In addition to communicating to work colleagues, communication to external parties occurs multiple times a day. Professional communication requires me to use formal language verbal and nonverbal. Within my role in the company I work for, I not only am working at the â€Å"back of house† but also at the front- face of the company.
